Interactive Film Sales International (IFSI) closed a raft of foreign
sales at Cannes on House Of The Dead, the horror feature from German
production and finance fund Boll KG and Mindfire Entertainment.
IFSI, the exclusive sales agent for Boll KG, sold the zombie story to
Metropolitan in France, Manga in Spain, Redbus (formerly Helkon SK)
in the UK, Mediafilms in Italy and Chang Entertainment in Korea.
The film, which was produced and directed by Uwe Boll, also sold to
Noble & Partners for Scandinavia and all Spanish-speaking Latin
American rights have gone to Arturo Feliu's PWI.
"With a slew of new sales at the market, bringing the number of
international deals for House Of The Dead to over 20, we now have only
Australia, Japan, Brazil, Portugal, Turkey, Israel, South Africa, CIS
and Eastern Europe available," Daniel Sales, president of IFSI,
said in a statement.
Sales added there was interest from the remaining territories and he
expected the film to be "completely sold out" by the end of
the year.
Based on the best-selling Sega video game, House Of The Dead centres
on a group of teenagers who take refuge in a house when they discover
the island they are on is full of zombies.
IFSI also finalised pre-sales on Boll KG and Brightlight Pictures' Alone
In The Dark, which is based on the Infogrames video game series and
is due to begin filming in July.
Spentzos has picked up the project for Greece and Phars Film Company
(formerly Founoon) for the Middle East.
North American distribution rights to House Of The Dead and Alone In
The Dark have gone to Artisan Entertainment. House Of The Dead is scheduled
for release in the autumn.
Spentzos (Greece) and Crest International (Japan) have also bought The
Way It Is, a 1984 art drama directed by Eric Mitchell and produced by
Sales starring Steve Buscemi and Vincent Gallo.
Sales and consultant Frederic Demey handled IFSI's sales business in
Cannes.
